Pastor's Welcome

Welcome to the Lighthouse Christian Center website.  We hope to provide you with a portal to the LCC experience.  The home page provides several icons that you can click as you explore the site.  Click the Download icon and you’ll get a sample of sermons, teaching, and other materials for spiritual growth.  The Ministries page is a great way to find out more about what we do at Lighthouse.  Click the button for upcoming and current events, so you can see what’s going on.  Or go to the calendar to keep up with everything.  Wherever you decide to click, we hope you’ll enjoy your time at the LCC website!

People love being part of this church!  In trying to explain that, I’ve given the Core Values at the bottom of this page.  I believe this church has these qualities, in ever-increasing quantities!  If I were to sum it up in one phrase, I would say Lighthouse is “that church.”  We’re the “other” church.

We’re the alternative for those who want relationship rather than religion, and truth rather than tradition.  Lighthouse is about God’s freedom, love, joy, peace and power!  It’s a positive change from the world’s negativity.  We believe that the Gospel really is Good News!  This is our distinctive.

If you are thinking about visiting Lighthouse, please take time to read the “What to Expect” blurb, on this page.  Lighthouse is made up of people who love God, who love each other and believe God has a purpose for our lives.  In order to find out this purpose we each need to have a relationship with God.  If you would like to begin a relationship with God, please click here.  If we can ever pray with you about something, let us know!

One Heart For Him,

Pastor John and Kelli Whittington

Core Values For Lighthouse:

That Lighthouse Christian Center will continue to be, and increase in being a New Testament church as found in the book of Acts.

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Acts 2:43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.
Acts 2:44 All the believers were together and had everything in common.
Acts 2:45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
Acts 2:46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
Acts 2:47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Spiritual.  (Acts 2:42)
The Word of God is foundational.  The Cross is central.  The Gospel of Jesus Christ is predominant.  Prayers go forth constantly.  Discipleship is the normal way of life.

Equipping.  (Acts 2:42)
Educational, motivational, arming people of God to be people of God...

Powerful.  (Acts 2:43)
The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is alive and at work in His people!  The work of the Holy Spirit which includes drawing, convicting, renewing, transforming (in New Birth), sealing, filling, empowering, enabling etc. will be clearly present in the service.   The gifts of the Spirit will be operating,  The fruit of the Spirit will be flourishing.

Safe.  (Acts 2:44)
The people will be safe from the world’s influence and the enemy’s devices.  They will be safe from the sin and darkness from which they have escaped into this body of believers.  They will be safe to love (God and one another) and be loved.  They will be safe to form relationships with their brothers and sisters in Christ.

Loving.  (Acts 2:45)
The church, the body of Christ, will be the embodiment of love!  Loving one another involves actively reaching out to those in need, praying for one another and carrying each other’s burdens.

Inspiring.  (Acts 2:46-47)
People will actually feel better when they leave than when they came.  The strong will have a sense of being refreshed, renewed and edified.  The week will feel the relief of laying down burdens, drinking from the living water and being built up!  Those who came in lost will leave with the peace and joy of knowing that they have turned their lives over to the Lord, and have been saved from sin and death!  People will leave motivated to work for the Kingdom of God.

Worshipful.  (Acts 2:47)
Thanksgiving, Praise, Worship, Offering ourselves to God, Repentance, Spiritual Warfare, Praying in the Spirit with all kinds of prayers...

Relevant.  (Acts 2:47)
Contemporary Music, Multi Media and other technologies which clearly portray, rather than distract from, the message of the cross will be utilized.  There will be relevant ministries, such as Lighthouse Christian Academy, Benevolence, etc. that make a lasting impact on this community.

Magnetic.  (Acts 2:47)
The atmosphere will be charged with expectation and excitement.  Sunday Brunch and Wednesday Supper will be opportunities for fellowship.  The ushers and greeters will be smiling and helpful, the members warm and friendly, the music, lights, sound, and overall “production” will be great, the worship will be in Spirit and truth, the message will be interesting, challenging and potentially life-changing.
Acts 5:13-14 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people.  Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.

What To Expect

Walking through the double glass doors on a Sunday morning, you’ll be greeted by one of our helpers.  They will offer you a smile and a church bulletin.  The bulletin contains upcoming events and prayer requests.  Our Sunday worship service starts each week at 10:30 AM.  We offer coffee and a continental styled breakfast for those who arrive a few moments early.  Several people are here by 10:00, so they can enjoy the food and each other’s company.

Our music style is considered “contemporary worship,” but we also respect traditional church music.  We believe that worship, through music and song, is an integral part of the church service.  Many people enjoy the music, for which we are thankful.  But we also believe it’s a tool for worshiping God, and entering His Presence!

A couple of things usually happen along with the music service.  Someone will come to the podium, focus your attention to the bulletin, and make the weekly announcements.  Someone else, usually the head usher, will come forward to give scripture and encouragement about giving to the ministry.  At this point, ushers will come forward and offering plates will be passed for giving.

For children, 11 and younger, we offer a service called Kids of the King.  Children begin the service in the sanctuary with the adults. After some music they are released to go to Kid's of the King.  Jennifer Roberts, our children's minister, is waiting to lead the way.  Exiting the sanctuary, they go to the right and down the hall. Rest Rooms, Nursery and Kid's Church are all down this hall.  We provide nursery for children 2 years and younger.

We usually have a time of prayer at some point during the music service.  If you would like prayer, you can come to the area in the front.  The Pastor and members of the Prayer Team will pray with you.  If you do not need prayer, we ask you to be considerate of those who do.  You may want to quietly pray as you sit and listen to the worship music.

After music, the pastor comes forward and delivers a message, based on a passage of scripture from the Bible.  Our pastor sometimes uses illustrations, powerpoint, and video clips to engage the listener.  We desire Word-based, Spirit-led worship services!

The  church service usually lasts until around noon, but we are open to the Holy Spirit.
